The Human Trial Digital Classroom Experience

With the usual support we receive from Roco Films, we conducted The Human Trial Digital Classroom Experience in late November. Deriving inspiration from Joyner and Isbell's book The Distributed Classroom, we designed this event to allow participation onsite and online, synchronous and asynchronous. We once again partnered with our most reliable collaborators from Tokyo Tech Academy for Leadership (ToTAL) and the Laboratory for Design of Social Innovation for Global Networks (DLab). What are some takeaways? First and foremost, the film has been superb in educating us about diabetes. The event was scheduled in November since November 14 is World Diabetes Day. We all encourage you to watch the film if you get a chance. Secondly, doing hybrid events remain to be challenging. Finally, we still need to learn a lot more about scheduling to increase participation. In the end, it was a good opportunity to learn from others about really important topics but we would otherwise not attempt to learn about.
